News!

Indie ‘Dance Wiv’ Dizzee Rascal and Calvin Harris

‘Dance Wiv Me’, a collaboration between British rapper Dizzee Rascal & knob-twiddling whizzkid Calvin Harris, has sold twice the amount of digital sales as the number two single and is sticking to it’s UK number one spot for the second week. 10% of the digital sales are from frontline promotions organised by Indie Mobile on fulltrack mobile stores such a 3, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Orange.
Indie have provided support not only on fulltrack but also across ‘personalisation’ formats such as realtones, ringbacktones and video, with banner features on Orange and 3, TV ads on Jamster and front page coverage of the record. With mobile figures strong on the campaign, this is adding more than a bit of sugar to an already sweetened campaign.
The song, released on the London rapper's own record label, Dirtee Stank, is Dizzee's first Number One single. Speaking about the news this week, Dizzee said: "It feels good because it's the first release on my own label and it's looking like it's staying to the top which means a lot."

Indie Bluetooth success

.rockness

The UK's appetite for summer music festivals is growing hand-in-hand with the popularity of digital media. Rockness and the O2 Wireless festival are set in two very different locations but both were the settings for Indie Mobile’s biggest ever Bluetooth marketing campaign.
Broadcasting via four roaming Bluetooth hubs, we sent out over 10,000 exclusive video previews of ‘Toe Jam’ the debut single from Norman Cook’s new project The Brighton Port Authority. The campaign consisted of five elements: blue-casting, roaming promo crew, promo cards, artist WAP site and onstage reveal. This is just one of the ways Indie mobile has been using new media to promote their acts to the key 12-26 year old demographic.

Indie ‘Sing In The Rain’

Mint Royale initially charted ‘Singin’ In The Rain’ at number 20 in 2005 following a pretty nifty car commercial for Volkswagen, but this record was destined for headier heights. Singin’ In The Rain was propelled to it’s rightful position at the summit of the charts by ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ winner George Sampson.  Sampson used the track in one of his breakdance routines and won the competition. Indie Mobile stepped in and provided the crucial link; bolstering what was a strong singles campaign, turning it into a great one. Sales through mobile exceeded initial expectations and ran into the thousands across fulltrack, realtone and ringback tone formats.

Neil Claxton (aka Mint Royale): "The pro activity [the] team at Indie Mobile has definitely paid dividends and strengthened our release of Singin In The Rain. It's been great to see how [Indie Mobile's] hard work has paid off for us and the reporting is second to none."

David Wood (founder of Faith & Hope) ... "I've worked with other mobile companies before and to me it's all about how good someone is. To me, Indie Mobile is 'the' leading mobile content company.

Highlights of promotions included:

TV Ads on major music channels through Jamster
Front Page Fulltrack promotion on 3 online
T-Mobile “Top Tunes” with Banner
Buzz Story on MusicStation (Vodafone)
Realtone features in The Sun & Star newspapers
Ministry of Sound “Recommends”
Tone Ads on Yahoo and Google

Carla Cornwell, event fundraiser for Jam For Bread and Torture Care on Indie Mobile’s support: "We wanted to use Indie Mobile as we know they are the best in the industry. THE FUTUREHEADS

We have been working with The Futureheads to do an SMS pre order campaign based around the live versions of next single Beginning of the Twist - out March 10th. The band are recording a live version of the single at each venue of the tour. We have built a simple wap site for the band whereby the user can order the version of the single from the gig they went to, or missed out on. To view the site for yourself, text FUTUREHEADS to 82822. The site is free to access and there is also a free realtone of Broke Up the Time on the site. Enjoy!

CONTACT POINT - British Stand @ MIDEM 2008

Again entrusted with the mission to ‘Mobilise Midem’, Indie Mobile have contributed ‘Contact Point’ to the British Stand for Midem 2008.
Contact Point allows the user to locate a British Midem delegate, contact them by SMS or Email, view their profile and, if required, download it to their mobile handset. Contact point also links delegates to their respective companies (each with a full profile, including bio), which are categorised by 'industry activity' and 'music genre specialty'.

Music Sampler - British Stand @ MIDEM 2008
This year Indie Mobile are also responsible for the annual MIDEM Music Sampler.
Rather than choosing the usual CD or Web-Streaming approach, we’re going mobile, allowing users to download MP3 track previews to their mobile handset, and set their favourite as a Ringtone.

Robyn spanks Timbaland for Indie No.1

alan fletcher

Mobile sales provided the crucial lift to full track sales this week (12/08) and helped put Konichiwa’s Robyn ‘With Every Heartbeat’ into the UK number one spot.
The massive pre-release buzz shot Robyn to number five in the charts, with the help of mobile downloads and pre-orders. The track then took the industry by surprise as it continued to climb to this week’s number one spot, beating both Kanye West and Timbaland to it. Indie Mobile provided distribution and mobile marketing for the release to four out of the five UK networks

For those not in the know, Alan Fletcher - or ‘Fletch’ - is widely known as the legend that is Dr Karl Kennedy from Neighbours. Alan Fletcher is known worldwide for playing Ramsey Street’s resident Doctor, and for his long marriage with Susan - played by Jackie Woodburn. We have secured the rights to all of Alan’s music which he writes with his band Waiting Room, as well as voicetones which Alan will be making with the help of his fans. Waiting Room’s debut album ‘In The Waiting Room’ will be available on Mobile handsets soon for everyone’s listening and downloading pleasure. With Neighbours weekly viewing figures exceeding 100 million, Alan has a solid fan base who love him to bits, and it’s great to be working with such a genuine TV star. MoBlip on the Landscape

The aim of this project was to promote the Mercury Prize-nominated album ‘The Eraser’ by Thom Yorke, frontman from Radiohead.  This took the form of a global viral mobile campaign, utilising java and mobile internet across over 70 mobile networks. MoBlip spread through word-of-mouth and was shared directly from user to user, spreading internationally across fan communities. Recipients of the text message are asked to submit their location. In return they receive:
• A marker on the map at xlrecordings.com/moblip.
• An exclusive Realtone from the new album.
Users can then track the spread of MoBlip across the world. To view MoBlip, go to www.xlrecordings.com/moblip. To join MoBlip, enter the address http://moblip.xlrecordings.com into your phone browser. The website included full integration with Google Maps allowing fans to zoom in on satellite images to track the spread of the MoBlip per district. We witnessed a viral spread of 1200% in 5 days.  The campaign was recently nominated for BT Digital Music Award
